Hello everyone,
what are the best ATV snow tires that will not stop machines with a little over 2ft of snow?? I tried that dirt devils tires, spider trac tires in past. what about the blackwater mud tires and others new brand mud tires will works great in snow??
I rode my an 86 ATC250es big red in snow storm last weekend with stock tires on it but i sold two rear spider tracs tires.
I am looking for a sets of rear spider trac tires for my 1985 ATC 250sx with alum or steel rims, doesnt matter, if anyone got for a sale.

For your ATC's,....Try '4-snow' or 'Pro-wedge' rear tires!!!
You'll not believe it!!

2 feet of snow is asking alot... But if Tordeur is recommending tires, I would believe him... Watch a few of his snow videos on youtube...

do you have your tires on backwards for a reason? I just bought some and the rotation recommended on the sidewall is in the other direction.
I have thought about what they would do in this direction, Im guessing you did this for a reason. do they work better this way?

Reversible tread design offers optimum traction: scoop for snow and backside for increased contact surface on ice :naughty:

Exactly like zzmegad say,....
But i ride it like that all winter,....most of time in snow than ice!

i have a set of them and i was staring at them thinking about it and it seems to me like they would work better when used opposite of the arrow on the side wall. but then my neighbor says if you put them on following the arrow it will push the snow out of the way instead of collecting it. sorta like this>>>>>>>>>>>will push the snow to the outsides of the tires and this<<<<<<<<will collect the snow but seems like the paddles will give you more tracktion. havent used them yet so i dont know. its just my theory!

I've tried both way and backwards has way more traction on hard packed trails. Was really hard to make them spin and would make the front end lift instead of spinning. They also had more traction in deep snow but wasnt that much of a difference compared to packed trails. For ice, any rubber tire wont get good traction so mounted anyhow doesnt do much.
I gotta agree with your Tordeur, they make a huge difference in snow but they require some torque to be able to make them spin in deep snow.

looks like i will go with 4-snow tires, i will buy them and add on to my ATC 250sx for snow fun and sand riding too. Thanks for all different tips.

I wouldnt run them in sand if I'd be you... There made with super soft rubber that might eat really fast with sand. Same thing on asphalt, I'm trying to stay away from these with 4snow tires on.

As far as "how long do they last?" A hell of a long time being that they are for snow which basically has little to no wear on the tire.
I like the look of those "Pro-Wedge" tires, I'm sure they are pretty good in the snow.
My favorite tires are "4 snows" - only available in 22's (with my rim size) but I have seen a 200X run circles around me (Louis Mielke) compared to the studded "Realtor" tires I had. And that was in at least a foot of snow or more; That experience made me buy a set last spring and they'll be on my 350X the next snow storm.....
Aggressive mud tires will not perform as well as these, mud tires dig down and clear out the mud with wheel spin while pushing ahead.
These 4 snows tires with a rounded profile without super deep lugs seem to float above the snow and push forwards very well before they dig down.
The "4 snows" were the best tires I've ever seen perform in the snow; Thats the best advice I can offer.......

a lot of drag racers swear by the 4-snows on the dirt:acr
