points on a 185s

my step brother got this trike for $50 no cdi no primary stator he cant aford to replace them so we installed points that run off the lighting stator it sparks great and its fully agustable just need a timming light so i can set it im going to make a cover for and clean up the wiring later

If your step brother decides to save up a few pennies, I have a spare exciter coil and cdi I could part with if that's all your missing.

Let me put my hands on the parts and send you a picture. I'm at work now but will be home later this evening after 6pm CST. Also I have found DrATV.com to be most helpful in securing most of my parts to rebuild my 185.

heck cdi's are dim a doze for these bikes, anything from xr200's to 200x's to 200s, 185's work.

check ebay pry get a cdi for 15-20 bucks, its flooded with these electrical parts cheap.... but that is a wild points set up never would of even thought of that!

I don't see this working with that cdi pulse generator opening and closing the points . Did you grind one side off the pulse generator or is the motor going to spark 2 times per revaluation .

You can probably get the correct parts for super cheap on here. Heck if I had them I would give them to you for the cost of shipping.

all points style bikes spark each time it hits tdc but the pulse generater is off set from factory so it only sparks when it has to
it will even advance when it has to we still would like to get the stock parts but finding a good stator hasent been easy we already bought 2 that didnt put out power finding cdis is not realy a problem honda cdis are all intercangable i got a 01 xr70 cdi
in my atc 350x it works great
