I think the manual calls for 10w30 motor oil, but its all the way upstairs and outside in my garage and I dont feel like getting up to double check. maybe someone else on here wont be as lazy as me. :D ----Joe 8)

Standard 10w30 or 10w40 is fine. Dont use automotive gear oil, as its way too heavy. They do make expensive 2 stroke motorcycle gear oil that some people swear by, such as Bel-Ray Gear Saver, but Im personally not a big fan of them.

Use high dollar gear oil....That's why they make it.

I use synthetic Silkolene gear oil, never had any tranny or clutch problems.

Just make sure if you use a synthetic that it is safe for wet clutches (contains no friction modifiers).

Not on a Tecate. If you have to pull the flywheel, your going in from the wrong side! Definitely taking the long way around. :D

I like Bel-Ray gear oil. It seems to help with grabby clutch, which is a trade mark of the KXT250 Tecates. Tecate riders know what I'm talking about.

Right now I've got 10w30 in my Tri-Z and my 86 KXT.

you dont have to pull the flywheel or split the case to get the clutch out....

Here is my next issue! lol The alternator is froze! I need to pull the flywheel off....The alternator is all rusty looking....Anyone know how it could have gotten rusty?

crap always seems to get in there somehow. I had mine swapped onto a diffrent bottom end the other day, and when I took the flywheel cover off, a whole bunch of little rocks came out, and it was really rusty in there. I lubed it up, put it onto the other bottom end, and now its good to go! Im suprised my stator didnt get all chewed up from those little rocks. the front side of my flywheel sure took some abuse. lol
