My 85 200x runs but smokes and doesn't have much compression. I want to do a top end rebuild but don't know where I can buy a kit. Or if I go to a shop about how much does it cost?

In general local shops will be 40-60% higher than buying parts online. Ebay, www.denniskirk.com, www.rockymountainatv.com or any number of other online retailers are good places to start with parts.

start out with a honda manual, read through it to get to know whats involved with tearing down the top end.you can get dirtcrasher to do the work for you,im sure he only lives like an hour from you.if you decide to do it yourself take the jug to a shop and get them to measure the bore and see if you need any machining done, they will tell you what size piston to get, also you will need a new top end gasket kit.i would recommend using a wiseco 10:25:1 piston.

I went with the Powroll kit. http://www.powroll.com/P_HONDA_XR200.htm
