Ok so my 85r locked up today. Pulled of the head and cylinder to see that i shucked the piston. The front of the piston and the top ring were in pieces. Some got into the bottom end and i guess pieces locked up the crank. So would it be ok to buys new crank bearings and seals, and a connecting rod kit? Does that sound like the right thing to do? I really need some info here guys. Ant help is greatly appreciated. thanks alot, collin

Your on the right track...New rod and bearings/rod bearings/ Piston and a fresh bore...Sounds like it got a little loose in the bore and the ring walked... Pretty normal for a 25yr old machine...But pics always help!!:D

here is a couple pics of the broken piston and a shot inside to the crank where you can see pieces of metal debris and even a piece of one of the rings-
