Everyone is always asking if something from one trike will fit another. I think it would be a great help to some to start posting differences in the years. I will start this one from what I know about the 83 and 84 BR. Feel free to add to it and/or start a new thread for different trikes.
Right front fork lower:
The hole for the brake drum pin is drilled in different locations. The fork could be modified to fit by drilling a different locator hole.
Front brake drum:
different drum, can interchange with above mod.
Seat pan:
84 is plastic, 83 steel. They will interchange, but the latches are longer on the 83. The latches will interchange between the two.
Fenders:
are the same, except the L/H rear is cut away slightly to clear the high/low/rev gearbox on the 84.
Obviously, the 84 is shaft drive, and the 83 is chain drive, and the rear of the frames are different at the rear axle mounts. Also the 84 has reverse.
The rear brake drum setups are also different.
Both have key switches, but the 84 has a neutral and reverse lighted indicator.
