200x smoke problems

Top End Gasket kit and a new set of rings! I had the same problem on my G/f's Atc 200 and now she is good as new!

You need to tear the entire top of the engine down, pull the piston out, replace the rings on it, then put it all back together, making sure you don't screw up the timing, because it can be a pain in the arse sometimes to re-time. Oh, and you need to use new gaskets this time.

I removed my engine from the frame on both trikes I did. But other have done them in the frame by removing all but the lower rear engine mount bolt. Remove the pull start. Remove the CDI and rotor assy. Remove the head, cam, and tie cam gear to the timing chain. Then remove the jug. The piston will be exposed. Clean up all the old gasket material. Re-ring the piston and go back together. I left out some things.... but get a manual and read it a few times before you pull things apart. Hope this helps!

gilbert, what year 200x is it? I have a gasket set for an 86-87 that I ordered by mistake.

Lap your valves while its apart too. Or take it to a machine shop and have them do a valve job. If its smoking you would hate to put new rings in it only to find out your valve seals were bad too.

Cleaned the carbon off (carb cleaner and a rag) and then a light buff with a polishing pad and small amount of compound! in the combustion chamber. Helps keep the carbon off of it and for a better flame front.

thanks! I'll be sure to do that when I do my next rebuild :lol: I heard somewhere that the combustion chamber and top of new piston should be roughed up before you run it, is this true?
