Awesome parts by Mark Thurman. Pretty inexpensive and what a cool guy. Won't be able to mount them till' the weather is better and it just took a turn for the worst. Chain guard and airbox cover are really cool.:Bounce

Wow! Those look great. I like the fact that they are functional looking and not done up with the typical tribal/flames/mullet banshee look. Do you know if he has any plans to make second gen. parts? Thanks for sharing.

Yup ezmoney, I mentioned it to him. He has an A1/2, so he makes the parts for his three-wheeler, but I told him we have lots of Tecate's. I think he may need an example to fit. But he said he would make anything we want and as many as we want. He also makes some cool dual aluminum radiator guards for the CR. Those would be so nice on your beauty. He's on e-bay, shoot him a question, he answers real fast and is very nice. This airbox cover is one he sent quickly (his cybor machine broke down), I originally asked for one with a Kawasaki 'K' on it, so he sent me this one until he designs the other, great guy I tell ya. http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/thurmanoffroaddevelopment/

I 2nd that....... My parts are on the way too. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next... Have you directed him here Hang&rattle?

I like that it says "Kawasaki" on the airbox cover, but I wonder if he'll run into a copyright infringment? I'd hate to see that happen...

hang&rattle
12-28-2010, 04:26 PM
I told him about 3WHeeLeRWORLD, but he only directly answered 3 out of 5 of my e-mails, I feel 2 may not have gone through. I'll shoot him another with a link. Heck, I could've put on the Kawasaki sticker....right?

I think it's great whenever anybody makes new parts for these old trikes. I plan on picking up a couple of the countershaft guards. They look great.

Got mine covers yesterday, great stuff for sure. The sprocket guard has awesome attention to detail, and delivers it as a kit with proper hardware. He even includes instructions for those people who are lacking common sense. Great communication with very prompt delivery is an added bonus in todays big talk no action world.

Are you sure it is not "Mike" Thurman.
If it is MIke then he knows this site well and was a member years ago and likely still is.

Went back & double checked, it's Mark Curtis-Tecate3. Has an A1/A2 Tecate, can be seen (kinda) on e-bay with the sprocket guard on it.

Welcome Mark, Sorry that I mixed you up with an older member Mike Thurman.
Great to see another Tecate enthusiast and one with machining skills to boot. Now all you need is to go find a "B" model to make some parts for as well..!!

People don't seem to appreciate the R and D involved in anything other than stock; Well done!!

I've done my share of R and D and you learn something all along the way. Unfortunately, the 1st part might take 6 hours only to be tossed away anyhow.

Anyone who makes AM parts takes pride in there workmanship and the fitment..............

Not everyone, but most people.

Tapper seems to make some nice AM products also. I like it :D

^ Decked meaning, "fly cut"?? Just tell me how many thousands and it should be cake.

Right now, I swept the table and it's dead nuts. But, depending on what I have to do, some things do take a bit longer. I can indicate my table and or vice within a few minutes. Then the cut itself is cake.

It won't cost you much as long as I'm confident it's indicated in correctly........ If not, I won't cut it.

I'd never destroy someones part/parts without warning them first :D The intent is to improve upon stock design........

Mark, I like the skid plate, but I'm looking for more of a "glide plate" to cover the frame rails and bottom of the engine. I ride dunes and mx style tracks and the Tecate likes to slow when it hits the top of a whoop or jump or landing. Just a flat piece of aluminum the same size as the V of the engine cradle under the motor. Don't know about mounting though. Needs to be light though.. zip ties? Thank you for the parts you offer..

mudbogger
01-17-2011, 09:00 PM
I would like a grab bar and a skid plate please-how can I pay you and how much-I did not see prices in the thread?

tecat-z
01-17-2011, 10:31 PM
Zip ties will fail instantly. Looks like he has mounting points at the bottom motor mount, and at the triangle point under exhaust port. Our Tecates have very limited fastening points. The plate will need to be narrow due to the peg design and single downtube engine cradle extending down so far. 2nd gens have a design like tri-z's and liquid R's. Very wide in that area up front, due to a double cradle design.

mthurman23
01-17-2011, 11:50 PM
the one im making uses the motor mounts at the bottom of the engine and the mounts in the front.it cradles under the frame and up the front.it actually tucks pretty good. should be finishing them up next week and i will shoot you some pics and if its not what your looking for i will make you the one you want..

mthurman23
01-17-2011, 11:56 PM
i will get them finished up for you next week and shoot you some prices. im thinking 30 for the skid and 25 for the grab bar.is that a fair price

01-17-2011, 11:59 PM

ok guys skid plates are ready. cost is 25 plus shipping. mounts to front and bottom engine mount. may require longer bolts. i am not providing bolts on this one because some people may have longer mounting bolts and it wouldnt be fair to charge the people that dont need em.for anyone who is interested i have some of my oops skid plates for10.00 plus shipping.these are good skid plates just some of the front vent holes are off and some have a little extra matl taken off by the punch and my bad programming.also different styles i was experimenting with. if you are interested i will post some pics anyone wanting skid plates email me at mthurman23@yahoo.com with your order and info.grab bars are in the works and will post pics soon.
