I have an 84 250R, with a balding and cracked front tire. What brand tire do some of you 250R guys run? How do they handle in various terrains? Personal experiences and opinions welcome, please no arguing over the subject.

I'm not much help, but my 85 has a Kenda Front Max. I have to admit I like the way it looks on the R, though I was never drawn to it by pictures in catalogs. And I'm just assuming it would fit an 84 model. I haven't tried it yet, but I may switch it onto my 86 Tecate and try it since 200Xbasket figured out you can bolt a Honda 250R front rim right on an 86 Kxt front hub.

the kenda front max is probably the closest to stock, im gonna get one for my x very soon, its probably the best choice for the performance 3 wheelers.

i run a carlisle front max 24x8x11 they were originalle made in the 80's for 3 wheelers. they have real stiff sidewalls so they don't give going into corners and you get better steering response. i got 2 new ones mounted on gold douglas aftermarket wheels for the front of a 83-85 200x from a guy that used to race the pro 200x class at the nationals agianst the factory teams. thats what he told me about them and thats why he used them. it made a big difference it's the only tire i'm going to use from now on. he used to hang in there or beat the factory 200x guys. and he was a privateer.

I can't decide weather to get a new stock front tire or the kenda front max for my 86 350x. I've heard really good things about the kenda and it's cheap to (right around $35).

the carlisle trail hawks thats the ones i meant. thanks wicked finger. i could not remember the exact name did not feel like going into garage and looking. back then they were marked as a 23-8-11 now they are marked as 24-8-11's. get those you will be amazed how much better it steers. yes they were gold mitchells for a 83-5 200x. i don't think you can get them anymore. i got them both tires on wheels for $60. i heard later he got them for free as a sponsership. his 200x was a TC racing engine 13 to 1 compression. dual plugs. the secone one went threw into head buy the timing chain. you would have to rebiuld it after about 5 races it was that maxed out. after they outlawed 3 wheelers he put it in a brand new 88 250r chassis. i got the bike from the guy he sold it to. that thing would hang rite in there with mildly built trx 250r's. you had to start it with riding boots on or you would bigtime hurt your foot. it would kick back real bad.

I've had a Front Max on mine for a long time and never really liked it that much. It didn't hurt the handling or anything, but it was too big and I didn't like the look. It also hit the pipe when it was newer and coming in for a hard landing. I recently went back to the stock Dunlop and it looks much better.
