Wierd Shifter issue???

On my 1983 Honda ATC 110, the shifter seem to be ass backwards. To upshift, you have to kick the shifter down and to down shift you pull up. To get to neutral, you pull up all the way.

It's not that big of a deal, but the manual says that you pull up to upshift and kick down to down shift. Which is what I am used to with other bikes.

Does anyone know how or why this happened? And a way to correct it? :D

Its been a while, but I think that is the way the trannys were early on. My CT70 was that way if I remember correctly.

That's how some of them are. Some shift up to shift down, some shift down to shift down.
