Have a wobble that's drivin me nuts. Its either the hub or axle.Tried brand new wheels so I know that's not it. I supported the rear end with both wheels off and held a long screw driver from floor with it running in gear and the only wobble I could see was the sleeve portion of the hub. Its an 86 250sx rear right. When I take off the hub and run in gear the end of axle has maybe 1/2 to 1 mm of wobble at most. Any help would be great.

1 mm off of center would give you 2mm of wobble.. pull it out and take it to a machineshop if you don't have the proper tools to measure it correctly

The "bolt together" assembly doesn't seem to hold up.

If you take the hub off, you also took the support bearing off in which case only the diff splines keep it true.

I kept bending the short left side, I'd take off the short tube and clearly the axle wasn't on center.

If you take it to a machine shop bring the hubs as well and have them indicate the face of the hub near the studs to make sure that the hubs are square to the axle .
