Im looking into different options to solving my 350x frame issues. Anyone ever try modding a 86-87 200x frame to fit the 350x's stuff? I have a nice 86 200x frame but i hate cut it up and it not work out.

from what I've seen the 200x frame is weaker than the already weak 350x frame, not to mention smaller. I'd recommend if your frame is trashed pick up a 350x frame somewhere and gusset it to make it hold up.

I Agree or
you could contact HRE ATV he would build you a new one out of chromoly. Be aware they are not cheap but well worth the money.

I have to disagree. If you place the 2 frames side by side, you'll see the square tubing is secured much better that the round tubes and split perimeter on the 350X.
However, I think it's too small to stuff in there and if it did fit, you'd probably have to take it out to do any top end work.
I have never seen an 86/87 200X frame break, but the 350X needs 4lbs of welding and gussets to take the abuse. Yes it's heavier but the stock attaching points are weak at best.
Had the ATC era continued, I think they would have changed the 350X frame altogether, maybe similar to the square type 200X frame.
Eric, I haven't forgot. I'm still adding gussets

Or if you were to get really lucky and find a 86 1/2 frame, but that'd probably be as expensive as the cromoly one... lol.
Also I didn't pay attention that it was an 86 200x frame, was thinking 83-85. Might hold up but as was said... would be petty cramped.
edit: just sent an email for a quote on one of those chromoly frames, we shall see.

Here is my thread on the HRE 250r frame.

Unlike any stock modified frame you will NOT break a HRE frame and be alive to tell about it.

I'm fairly sure Eric doesn't want to spend 1200$ - 1500$ or more for an indestructable frame.
Personally, I think gusseting the stock frame for the average guy who doesn't want any issues is there best bet. Unless they want to Superman it in which case a TPC would be best. I wonder how many frames Eric Jensen went through; We've all seen his launches!
They are what they are, I'm no 60' gap jumper (yet ) but I have not broke my 86.5 frame yet and I've had it 5 years and I use it very well and jump it often. I'm just lucky in that aspect I guess.............

You might be right about most guys only needing a beefed up stock frame, but he asked for options. And as far as I know HRE is the only place willing to make replacement frames for ATCs.....but your guess on the price of one is low.
Nothing personal but he asked for options not opinions.
