Hey guys:

Here is what I have done..... I ported the head (Blended the port bowls and cleaned up the runners to the bowls with stock valves and springs), A 200x piston (9.6:1), a DG exhaust system, EBAY cam (webcam 55-521) .340" lift 266 duration, and a Uni air filter.

The top end rebuild of my 1984 200s is done and wondered what carb are you using with the mods I listed above ? I am using the stock carb and wanted to know what you are using for your pilot screw/ pilot jet/ needle clip and main jet settings if using the stock carb?

I had it running a few nights ago, but I could never get it to idle right with out fowling out the plug. It ran great before the take down, but cant get it to idle for crap. I had the carb setup with 2 turns out/ 35 pilot jet/ 2nd clip on the needle/ 100 main jet before same as before the rebuild... but it has frustrated me... I had to walk away and take a break. I also had to stop work on mine since I gave my girl's ATC my coil from my bike. Her's quit running after getting the carb dailed in. Her coil was going bad. So a new coil is on the way for me.... but I am trying to get a few idea's to what my problem could be.

Thanks!

You might need a bigger carb to allow more air/fuel to get to the motor. There are two easy choices for carbs that can up the performance on a 200s like this - 83-85 200x carb, and XR 200 carb. I think the xr carb would be a better choice, and I think the stocker off a xr is 26mm, a little bigger than the 200x. The stock 200x is 24mm I believe, and the 185/200s used a 22mm, if memory serves me right. You can get xr style Keihin carbs from 26mm to 30mm on ebay from what I have seen.

agree with needing a bigger carb, just wondering if I can use stock for now
