Clutch Issue

My one way bearing was going and my auto clutch was slipping. So I got some new to me ones and installed them today.

Everything went smooth. I followed the manual to a T. Now I started it up let it warm up and everything. Put it in gear and it stalls. So fire it back up and pop it in gear and give it gas and takes off, perfect no more slipping. However its the opposite, I cant leave it in gear and let it idle anymore it just stalls.

Is it possible that I have the one way bearing in backwards?

Oh and the clutches are correct and in good working order that for certain. I bought them off a reputable member on here.

is your clutch adjustment set too tight?

I think maybe it has more to do with the cold weather than the clutch. I see you live in Saskatchewan also and my trikes always want to idle slow and stall when its this cold outside. It takes longer than you would think to get to a good operating temperature around here this time of year.

I dont think you can adjust the centrifical clutch can you? That is the one that I changed not the disc one, the one with the one way bearing.

I did play with the clutch adjustment scew on the side of the cover but that didnt change engagement just the feel of the shifter.

I am going to tear into it again tonight after work but idk.

Is there an engagement adjustment? Thats the issue. If you think of a snowmobile clutch that is the one that I am working on.

Oh and I forgot to add, my idle isnt set too high either its nice and low.

It doesnt stall due to the cold. It was in a heated shop.

Maybe I need to clearify. When its in neutral its fine. I put it in gear and it jumps forward and stalls unless i am on the throttle right away. Beofre it would sit there and idle in gear no problems, and not try to move untill you increased RPM.

I have another clutch and might try that one tonght after work. Just really want to run this one cause there is more of the friction there lol

The clutch has an adjustment screw on the side. It is probably out of adjustment and locking up at too low of an rpm, causing it to stall.

Are you taking on the side of the case? Because if you are then that doesnt do anything. This is the one way clutch and that adjustment is for the other clutch.

The one way bearing inside the cent. clutch sounds like it's backwards. There is no adjustment there..........

Does the kicker work? or dos it slip.

I thought the one way bearing was a part of the kick starter, no?

Are you taking on the side of the case? Because if you are then that doesnt do anything. This is the one way clutch and that adjustment is for the other clutch.

So did you change the centrifugal clutch or the manual clutch? the adjustment changes what rpm the centrifugal clutch locks up at.

It sounds like your centrifigual clutch is not disengaging. could be a broken spring. or an improperly installed/or seized one way bearing

I got it!!!


So here is what happened. I was thinking and thinking about what could have happened before I installed this thing. I remembered that it had come apart. Well I just put it back together thinking there is only one way, wrong

After reading and reading the manual, on the installation of the one way clutch drum it says to install the drum by holding the center and turning the drum counter clockwise....... This I could not do because it would want to turn the engine over.

Why?

Because I like a dumazz installed the one way bearing in backwards!!!!!!!!!


Just got it finished now though

Runs and engages and shifts perfect now!!

Hey guys, I am having trouble getting the main clutch nut off. And it looks like are grooves inside the clutch drum. Should it have grooves in it because there is still some material left on the shoes. I went on this crazy three wheeler buying spree and got 5 110s and got three running good. One 200es the guy that owned ragged it out and busted the trans up. And a 200 that is in pretty good shape as far as the body,bearings, and stuff. I am getting the top end bored and all of that good stuff. It should be a fun bike. I am pretty good with the engine but just learning about the clutch.

The grooves should be just normal wear unless it is really bad. Which way are you trying to loosen the nut? It has left hand threads.
