Aftermarket gas tank vent hose

I bought an aftermarket plastic gas tank for my 250es. The OEM one was rotted out pretty bad. The new cap on it, has a vent on the cap where you would attach a hose like any standard cap. The problem is there is no barb on the little stem where you would put the hose. I put a few different types of hose on it andthey all falll off. What can I do about this. I really dont want gas spraying in my face when I ride.

Is it possible that the cap has a vent design that does not require a hose?

What brand is the tank? Maybe there is some information available online.
