If you pay close attention, at 1:45 I catch what I would estimate to be 8 feet of vertical air. Thats what hard work and training is about ladies and gentlemen.

My parents bought that place for a digustingly cheap price back in the 70's. It is a big part of our family, so many good times. Finally riding us-90's with bubble tires out there was amazing. I am still smiling.

US90s and "Southbound Pachyderm" are a great match. Great video. It's been a while since I rode ballon tires. The last one I had, the tires were shot and 2 tires just cracked apart while I was riding. Had to throw them away. Not even worth keeping. I bought the adapters and rode with later model wheels and tires. I've never had the chance to ride the sand though. Super Cool.

That was KOOL ! Now if we could all just go back in thim to the date they were made when times were simpler and the U.S. was a different place to be ... and we didn't have this Obama economy ... Now that would be something to see ...

Yes, then we would just be dealing with the Vietnam war economy! LOL And all the families who really lost family members for little or no reason. No Thanks.

nice! although I saw you hop on the paved road with those tires and was like "NOOOOO THOSE TIRES ARE MEEEEELION DOLLARS A PIECE"
how do those tires compare to a moden rim and balloon tire?

No hyjacking allowed for political arguments guys. I think we can all agree that if we go back to 1970 we would spend every dime we have to buy up as many us-90's and bubble tires as possible ;)

Haha I saw that hop on the pavement as well on the editing. I think we were both lost in the moment riding those bikes. We planned on just riding around the yard and then we just both took off for the dunes. It was an unstoppable urge.

As for the tires, I don't know of any wheel/tire combos that even come close to matching these tires. Though I have thought hard about sending a front and rear to china to be copied and remade.

I am so pissed I did not sell off the tires I had, I acquired a amphicat 6x6 that came with about 10 of those tires, most were in good shape. I sold the amphicat with all the tires..

Yeah we debated on pushing them down the paved section but then the camera was rolling and we got excited lol. Dont worry, this isn't an everyday thing, we just promised ourselves this ride a long time ago. Like bret, I am still smiling! As for the Ohtsu perfomance- I was amazed at how steep a dune you could go up in 1st gear low. The climb would get steeper and steeper and you would be at a near standstill but it would just find more traction! The sand was a little damp so that helped. I hope you guys like this vid- next up is some 87 T3 vrs 85 250r footage from the same trip last weekend!!

Where did you have your GoPro mounted for this video? I really like the angle - but can not figure out what it is mounted to!

I used the sucksion cup mount for all the us-90 footage. Most of it is attached to the rear fender. One section on the front fender chasing ezmoney, and a couple I stuck it to various peoples helmets.

I used the sticky mounts on helmets and to ezmoney's chest protector for the 250r vs kxt250 vs 200x footage

Balloons on Pavement? Just kidding I saw it was only for a quick little bit.

Love that Video, amazing camera angle. It was awesome to see those tires working like that. Anyone here want to trade a US90 for my left nu...... Awe forget it. I'll find one some day. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, I'm stoked with the quality of video that camera puts out.

Yes, located at the coos bay dune area between Hauser and Spinreel.

I am not sure what is done to either bike. I had to fix the hi/low gears at the coast and threw new oil in mine. That is the first time I had run it. Ezmoneys, has been running for a bit but also has not been opened. They both have the original us-90 motors though. Damn those philips head bolts holding the cases together!

I think I've been on that road before....Or at least gone down the hill from the dunes where you entered at...Were you in High or low range the majority of the time?

No way in high range:( Maybe after a fresh top end, out on the flats, tailwind, etc. but I doubt it. Three balloon tires at two psi is alot of drag! Im not sure why Honda geared these things so high. The top of 4th gear in high must be scary:lol: Thats the first access off of Crannog Rd. north of Hauser. It was so warm and nice last weekend, awesome for December.

Two things that were in my head while cruising on the 90s- One was the sound track for "On any Sunday" and the other was thinking how bad those guys were throwin down in "Diamonds are Forever". That was awesome riding for back in the day

lol....4th would be scary if it could pull it.....I've let the kid run around on the beach in high range there but it can't pull much more that 3rd...I don't know why they were geared so high either..All I can figure is they have bike gearing? We were at Florence this year for thanksgiving but the last 4/ or five years prior we camped in the sand at Hauser. I love the Oregon coast. Next ride is gonna be Winchester..

Winchester is a small area, but the dunes are the biggest in Oregon. We always talk to about riding there more often, but loading everything back up and heading over there always seems like too much work.

You're right winchester is smaller than either Florence or Coos....But you're also correct about them being the biggest. I think of the 3 it has the most variations.... Anyone can ride there and have a good time...I see your issue...I'd probably have the same problem if I had a place near coos...

Hey Jeeper- my 90 has a hole in the exhaust and a K&N air filter. I think those sweet mods offset the worn rings though

Cool vid. I actually used that same rear fender angle in the vid I shot back on veterans day. Still need to finish editing it.

Your videos are what inspired me to get that GoProHD. I am so impressed with that camera.

The editing does take time though. This video took me about 4 hours to edit. I had to figure out the program i was using as well. I need to edit the 250 footage still. It should go faster.

Dammit!
12-10-2010, 07:07 PM
What program did you use? I'm figuring out Adobe Premiere CS5 at the moment. Damn thing drives me nuts though.

Bretmd94
12-10-2010, 07:14 PM
I am using some free program. I will have to check on its name when i get home. I'm pretty restricted on what i want to achieve with it though. Adobe Premier should be a lot better. I have heard that you need classes to use it though.

Dammit!
12-10-2010, 07:23 PM
You don't need classes. All editors do pretty much the same thing. It's mainly the interface that's different so you have to figure out where everything is.

Cool video, The Honda 90 was the first atv I ever saw. My ex brother-in-law brought one home. I was 7 or 8 at the time. There were strict instructions not to touch it. I was on that thing the moment he was out the driveway. All I remember is running over my feet every time I turned and put my foot down like when I rode my trail 70.
