hey guys, got the swinger off my 84r and just been checkin out the bearings or bushings where the pivot is to the frame. seems like there is some reminance of needle bearings in there. question is, do i need to press something out and replace needle bearings or can i use some type of bushing? also, does anyone sell a complete bearing kit to rebuild the rear carrier? thanks for any info.

Yes - You need to get the remnants of the bearings out somehow without gouging the inside of the swingarm opening. Its a pain usually to get them out. A 4lb. mini sledge usually does it. also some punches and chisels are handy if the bearings/case is in pieces. If the bearing is pretty intact ,-you need the correct size impact socket or similar to drive it out. It must be as close to the diameter of the bearing itself so it wont crush and be even harder to get out. no press needed. When you get em out,- clean the surface with a wire wheel/drill with lube if rusted. Also freeze the bearings at least a day so you wont have to hammer them in and damage them. Slide em in quickly and center them as much as possible by eye. Let it warm, then slide the collars in...
