My motor cases are going to the powdercoater this weekend and I need to get the water pump impeller bearing out of the case half but can't figure out how to do it?? You cant get at it from the rear so my only option is to pull it out from the front but I don't knowwhat type of tool I wouyld need for that. I can get a new bearing if I destroy it I just need to get it out.

Any sugestions

Well I guess I'm going to have to buy one of those now unless someone has a homemade solution?

heat the back side of it with a torch and it will fall out. we put the cases in a grill or oven and every bearing falls out after it heats up a little. tourch will work just fine but it is a pain in the butt to get it to fall.

i got the tusk bearing puller from rocky mountain i think its like $70 works great for stuff like this. You can probably make some sort of homemade puller/slide hammer type deal.
I agree with T3 though if you need to heat will work in a pinch most times.

i made up a little hook on a end of a home made slide hammer. works with some heat, but i should get a blind bearing puller. some of those small bearings can be a pain to get out

well, i got a trick that works with sealed bearings like a throwout bearing. maybe it could be adapted to work with non sealed??

1. find a drill bit that fits perfectly into the ID of the bearing.
2. pump a bunch of grease into the bearing through the ID,
3. insert drillbit flat end first, and hit the other side with a rubber mallet.
4.repeat as nessicary, adding more grease everytime.

That is a pretty sneaky trick, it makes me want to find something to try it on...

done that with a clutch pilot bushing in my truck once.. the bit or bolt has to fit fairly snug, but it does work..
