Well, I came across this bad boy and am picking it up Sunday. This is the only pic I have of it right now, and have not seen it in person, but could not pass up the price. What do you guys think? What are the odds that the fenders on the left are broken? 110719

Its a fixer-upper, but the potential is there, if the price was right.

looks like the left side fender is busted. If you look closely you can see it just above the seat and just below the rear rack

If it ain't locked up and runs...snag it. Has front/rear racks...not too bad condition.

I noticed that Matt86, but am hoping it is just a shadow.

Go for it, looks like a good winter project, just be aware that the plastic side panels for the rear fenders are hard to find!

Snag it up. Gotta love the Big Red. $200.00, around here that would be stealing it, lol.

What a hunk of crap!!! I will give you a 12 pack of PBR and 2 sessions of trike riding lessons for it. Someone needs to put a leash on you!! When you picking it up buddy? I may ride down with you.

Sweet I bought one in similiar shape earlier this year for $100. Broken/missing right fender, stitched left fender, didn't run, tank gross inside, etc

that has serious potential. Id love to find one like that lying around. It looks very unmolested, apart from it being outside so long. Theres not a drop of oil on that motor!

Looks like a good deal for 200 bucks compared to the prices we pay up here for junk. Is that maybe a 1987? Looking at the tank decals it might be. Don't see too many of that year up in Canada.

Well, where to begin. Skypilot I just met a guy the other day while I was buying some 350x shrouds that is a big red fanatic and he told me he had a set of oem side panels for the 86. Now he is going to want more than what I paid for this bike, but might wait him out. I am hoping the guy took them off to kick start it and has them laying around somewhere.

Stud, I might have to take that deal, of course you will want to drink the PBR's while giving the riding lessons. And as far as the leash, I have to keep buying to keep up with you. I have about 3 more on the line that I want but my wife is ready to kill me now. I think we are going to head down to Steal Your Dollar City on Sunday and I am going to make everyone take a sight seeing tour to pick it up.Next summer when I get the SX and my 86 200x parts bike I will be done shopping. I hope to get this thing running and put on the list for the restore. Problem is that list is pretty long. I am cleaning up and refreshing a trx 70 now, then building another 350x, then restoring the atc 70, and then the big red will fall in there somewhere. I am afraid I have started several winter projects.

I will post some good pics next week after I get it on Sunday.

Looks like you got a good deal. This guy had it in a package deal with a 4 wheeler for 450. I offered him $150 for just this and he said he would take 200 for it so I snagged it. He says it was running 8 months ago but he is in a wheel chair and can't ride so I hope when I get there it is just the carb. I have to tell you guys I have that Christmas morning feeling!

Well, I have questions about the Big Red. The tank stickers appear to be an 85, but wasn't the 86 seat the gray one? Either way I am super stoked about it, but I saw the seat and posted 86, not I am not certain. The guy had it posted as a 200 Big Red, but hopefully it is an 87 with an 85 tank and the gray seat.

Well just got an email from the guy that is selling me this and he says that it was running when they parked it. What are the odds I am going to bring it home, clean the carb, and it fires up. Man tomorrow can't get here fast enough!!!

odds are high if you ask me! unless rainwater got in there somehow. Flush out any old gas and put in new gas, and a new plug before you even try to start it! Good luck :D

Wow, mine was the worst of all of these!

That first one doesn't look bad. Just front and left fender, and the bottom of the tank. Other than that, has headlight, good racks, etc. Will be a good build when finished.

And side covers are expensive and hard to find. Wonder why no companies reproduced them?

yeah that tank looks patched to me. I am sure I will be in the market for a new tank also.
