Does the stock tecate cylinder for84/85 say kxt on it somewhere? Mine has some numbers on it and letters and it says kx not kxt. Is that a KX cylinder on my tecate?

The cylinders kx or kxt don't say anything as far as I know. KX250** is in the engine case below the cylinder on the right side regardless of kx or kxt.

I had a Tecate that had this on the KX cylinder. :-)

I'm with dcreel, I haven't noticed anything that points to IDing the cylinders, other than the KX cylinder having a divider in the middle on the exhaust.

And an extra port higher on the left and right hand side

Does someone have a picture of both cylinders side by side to show the difference between the KX and T3 exhaust port?

i've always wanted to add the sub-exhaust ports to a tecate cylinder.. if you look in the water jacket you'll see the casting is identicle... the tecate jug was obviously cast from the same mold, but got a more reliable and mellower kdx port layout. It would be some tricky tedious grinding work, but i think it would be superior to the KX. Kawasaki ditched the divided exhaust port in '86 and never looked back..

Yes. The sub exhaust tunnels are cast into the cylinder only they are filled. I've wondered how this would work many times. The main port could also be given more of a heart shape to widen area. There's LOTS of meat everywhere in those KXT cylinders for change.
