There is this tecate for sale near me and the guy says it's an 87 but I'm not sure. How can you tell the years apart? What year do you guys think this one is?
Also what would you say is a reasonable price for it? supposedly it runs good and fires right up. It has a new set of rear fenders with it too.
looks like a good project to me.

How can you tell its an 85? to me it looks like those fenders are cobbled on there off something else you can see a piece of wire going to the foot peg to keep it from rubbing on the tire. comes with new ones though. I thought about buying it just dont know what to offer him.

now that i look at it closer... the pipe is on the right.... and it had what looks to be the rectangle spot where kips is stamed on the jugg, rear fenders look like there pieced together from something else,

What does the pipe being on the left and having that rectangle stamp thing mean on a tecate? never seen one(in person) let alone dealt with one.

That is bizarre. That is some cobbled together shite with the pipe going the wrong way.

No, it is not. The 86-87 exhaust port comes straight out the front.

I'd say 85 frame with a different motor.

Ok thats weird. I think I'll just stay away from it then. I was taking to him and he said he wants 800 for it. thats all I could get out of him though. dont think he knows much about it. he said it wheelies in all gears I wouldnt think with a 125 it would have enough power to.

Gotta think I'm in canada eh. prices are stupid up here. I could probly get him down to 6 maybe even 5. got some more info out of him. it is a 125 motor in it and he has the 250 its just missing some parts he didnt say what though. he has new plastics to go with it too. This is the only t3 I've seen forsale anywhere close to me. the was a t4 forsale last year about 45 min from me.

Too much money and a whole lot of headache. You have no idea what shape the engine is in since it isn't on the bike either. Not worth it at all. It is definitely not an 87. It is an 84/85.
