Ok, I’ve been looking for a 250r or a 350x for a while now and someone in my area is selling both (the same guy). Not to make this a Vs. thread, but I’m wondering what is your opinions on both of the trikes below. How original are they? Do you think the price is right? What would you pay for the trike in that condition (this will vary due to location)? Which is faster, 83 250r or 86 350x?
I will mainly be riding trails, though the farm does have wide open areas to let loose.
I would most likely be contacting the guy tomorrow and checking them out Saturday (if I decide I want to spend some money).

1983 250r (too bad it’s not a liquid R, but I don’t mind an airfooler) 900$

personally I am an R fan, think they're faster than an X in just about any condition, but hey thats just me. the dent on the R's gas tank kind of kills the price a little, but $900 seems a lil high for that bike, a grand for the X isnt a bad deal, but that doesnt look like an original tank to me.

Looks like a Clarke tank to me on the 350x. Would be killer if you could get them as a package deal.

If had to pick just one, I would chose the 4 stroke

Saw them on Craigs they are not far from me (about 25 min) I would take the R over the X but it needs either a better tank, the X's tank does not look right (almost looks plastic in the photo) I don't think the prices are out of line, I would take the R over the X though even if the prices were swapped

I'd take the X over the R. I like the oversized tank. For what you want to ride the X is a better choice and will hold it's value over a 2nd gen R anyday. But I'd try a package deal. Tell'em you'll give him $1600 for the pair. $1700 tops. The you'll have the best of both worlds. If that was a 85-86 R there would be no choice

Both seem to be pretty good deals, Id take the X but im biased. Id definetly try and get a good deal for both of them together.

I would take the 350X from what I've been reading on 2 strokes a four stroke is alot less maintenance in the long run and for trails will definately be funner

I was hopping I could get them for a packaged deal. I was hoping 1500 would take them home. We will see. Thanks for all the advice!
One thing is for sure, I need to jump on it, we don't see too many 250rs or 350xs around here for these prices.

Uh Ohh, another victim of the "4strokes are cheaper to maintain conspiracy theory" brought to us by Honda, the Media, and MX Sports (aka AMA Pro)... I will agree with the trails though at least untill you get used to it...

Do the plastics on both of the trikes look original? It looks like the 250r has original plastics, but what about the 350x? maier?

Just a street educated guess but if it’s not the original tank, those white fenders look pretty "new" to be factory, the ones on the R look factory

They look really good. I would definetly pay 1000 for that 350x if it was me. Real good deal on the 250r to as far as that goess.

Jump on them both and see which one you can see yourself riding the most.

the x is a better deal, a better trike. I would try to swing them both.

go with Honda 350x, you will love it with great gas milesage and last forever than 250R. Go with 350x.

It seems like a 350x is harder to find than a 250r. The 350 is also a great 4 stroke that has a great reputation. It also looks like the 350 has been cared for better as well. So ya, my opinion is to buy the 350. I would def choose the 350 over a 250 not just because of the larger engine but for the reliability and holding its value better as well.
