Yes but you will have to countersink the sprocket and use flat head 10MM bolts and "nut" the other side. The 85 bolts hit the carrier where it adjusts thew chain using an 86 carrier.

so just get a 86 axle to be correct and not look like a backwoods setup, or use a 85 carrier in the 86 swinger with the 85 axle setup?

It's not ghetto at all, many guys run 85 axles in 86 carriers. The ghetto is when people use the stock 85 bolts and grind down the 86 carrier for clearance.

Just use whatever year/swaps you can get your hands on without wasting any money........

The 86 carrier was designed to be easier to adjust your chain.

i have a 85 carrier if that solves the problem with useing a 85 axle in the 86 swinger

dirtcrasher did you mean to counter sink the sprocket where the bolt head sits? if so how much? i would think that would weaken the sprocket? thanks again.

It would never weaken the sprocket. In reality, it provides even MORE surface area for the bolt to hold. The head is wider than the bolts diameter.

As soon as you have a flat head allen bolt in your hand, you'll know how far to countersink it and I've used an 82 degree sink although it must be a metric taper............

Dirtcrasher i have a set of 86 sprocket bolts in my hand now and see the taper on the back and now understand your meaning, i need to buy sprockets and chain as i want everything new or rebuilt so if i purchase a 86 rear sprocket it should have tapered holes allready correct?, oh and thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Yep, 86 sprockets will have a flat and a tapered side.

Then you should clear fine........

Grease that carrier up well and it will adjust nice and easy. NONE of mine are all beat up.

yea this billet carrier is already a little beat up from some other clown so i am going to clean it up, ie take the burrs off the ajustment holes, i have a 5 gallon pail off military heavy duty bearing grease i use on any bearings i use wheeler or auto, thanks again.
