I know we had a huge debate on this but I just need the facts of how it can be done and whether it is a huge effort or not.
Will the frame eventually crack like the Fourtrax frame from the lack of a counterbalancer? How much vibration is there?

im not sure what it would do. but i did here the vibration is extremely bad there was one up here at a local shop and they said it was awful to even ride it went like h*ll but it also vibrated awful. im just replying what info i have. nothing ive seen or rode myself just heard about it. i myself posted a question and had no reply i dont get it either mine seemed like a failry simple question and ive noticed there a few real smart people who reply to most of everyones on here, maybe being a newbie to the sight dosent help? anyhow hope it helps ya out

i have a cr500 powered 86 250r,, ride it quite regular ,,i have never had a problem with vibrations at all,,,,, it has been a weekend regular for several years,,,, it does vibrate, it is a uncounter balanced engine ,,BUT it stays together just fine,,, motor mounts stay tight cause they are all nylock nuts and get regular attention like all trikes should, it took me 8 months to build this machine and it was worth every second,,,,,,, i will gladly let anyone with above average trike skills hop aboard and soil their jeans!!!! its more than a blast to ride too,,,,,,

More pix! More pix! In my opinion, that is one of the most well planned 500r setups I have ever seen. It looks like it's not turned to far toward drag racing or too far elsewhere. That looks awesome. I can't wait until I have one like it one day.
As far as necessary steps for the transfer, I know it's advisable to strengthen the welds in the frame so it will stand up to the extra vibration and weight of the 500, and I know there is a frame mod that you have to do in one spot. (Guys, help me out with the proper name.) Other than those and engine mounts, you're good to go, to my knowledge.

there are NO extra welds or gussets on this frame it is exactly the same as every 250r out there ,, i repeat totally stock nothing extra added frame...

There are two places that have a dimple in them to clear the bolts in the clutch cover ,, small dimples not CRUSHED,,,, i have some picts but most are not close ups,,,,

Casey,
What about the airbox,
ignition (can I use the 250R one or the CR),
engine brackets,
chain length,
kickstarter (do you have to take off the rear fenders to kick it over),
etc.
What was the hardest thing about the process?
How would it handle w/o the extended swing arm? (would it wheelie too much and be much less controlable?)

also could you make it a woods machine or is it just a sand and drag bike?
i also was wondering about the lights b/c the cr500s didnt have lights did thew?
thanks kasey

OK,,,,, the air box is the stock 250r unit in its orignal position,,,,,, ignition is all cr500 easy to mount,,, pipe is all hand built to match the shape of the stock250r pipe (there is a reason i did this,,its called SLEEPER) stock radiators in their orignal position,,, motor mounts are fabed out of 3/8 aluminum,,,, with a stock swinger and dirt tires no problems it has so much torque that it just cooks the tires at any speed,,,, but add paddle tires in the sand and you will need at least a 6" over arm,, maybe more ,,i have a 6" arm and it handles great flys like a bird and a pleasure to ride,,,,,, 87 or newer cr500 light kits are fairly cheap 85 is the spendy one , my mods to the engine are shaved head.060,, ported for mid-topend 40.5 mm carb up from a 38 orignally my motor is a 87 i also changed trans ratios i used 4th and 5th out of a 90 cr500 to give it a little wider ratio (not a nessasary mod) they were bad so i had the option to do it,,,,,, the kicker is the only issue i still have ,, i take it off and stow it under the seat which has to be taken off to start it,,,,,,,
