1981-82 r motor same as 83-84 r motor?

i finally got a 250r its a 1984 rolling chassis but no motor i know where there is a cheap 81 or 82 with built motor bodys kinda ruff just wondering if it will bolt up ?

I believe they would work, but they are different colors. Red for 81/82 and 83/84 were black.

All the same, longer shift shafts exposed in the early ones and wider cases in the 83/84 to compensate.

sweet so they should bolt right up i didnt wanna start another big project in the middle of putting the final touches on the 86 tecate but i picked it up for $50 i cant control myself lol
