I think I'm finally ready to step up to the big boys! I am looking to purchase a 85-86 250r. I kinda have a limit on what I can spend 15-1800 and don't really know if I can get a decent machine for the price. Am I close or not? Also, I know the basics of what to look for and check over, but, is there any specifics I should look at with this particular bike? Thanks for any help.

u can definetely get a decent R for that price range i see them pretty often here in jersey in pretty good shape for that amount. also all i ever seem to pay much attention to on the R'S ARE OBVIOUSLY BEARINGS AND JUST OVERALL TIGHTNESS OF the bike,, as well as , beings its a 2 stroke , funny engine noises that u will often get on em. other than just the basic things i dont think theres any really specific spots on the R frames that are known for crackin/breaking but always give the frame a good look over anyway... where ya at in jersey ?

I'm in atco, in the pines. Lots of sand! I was told that the R's have issues around the foot peg area but I guess thats to be expected on a 25 year old bike. It seems the aftermarket is still keeping up with these bikes so I guess unless it's a real rat trap I can bring it back to life.
