83 200x leaking oil topend

I just got it running today bought it yesterday for 300.00 ok when it's running it runs good
just leaks oil on exaust side pritty bad it's smoking too
could the topend gaskets be bad has good compresion starts first kick has power n fast let me know what you think I'm thinking valve seals or valve cover seal

A picture would help diagnose. Sounds more like the rocker cover is leaking, and there is not gasket in there. It is actually just heat heat gasket maker. So take out the engine, take off the rocker cover and clean it up. Then apply a thin layer of high heat gasket maker and like it stand until its tacky, then torque it down. That is the trick. To many people apply the gasket maker then torque it down right away. Letting it get a little tacky helps is seal better.

^It won't, I can't do it with mine. And yes, it sounds like there's a bad or leaky gasket, shouldn't be too difficult to fix.

As for the smoking, it could just be in need of running out, if the smoke is coming out of the exhaust, and not from the oil leaking onto the exhaust. When they sit for a while, sometimes they will smoke when you fire them up. If it continues to smoke, even after you've ridden it for a while, then it may be your rings.

it's coming from the exaust port somewhat dripping on the exaust until I noticed the exaust bolts were loose tightend it n it's just goin tn the exaust I'm taking the motor out tmw after I serch for my buddys deer if you wanna see the pics it's on my facsbook e-mail addy is pimped_out_rhyde@hotmail.com

theyres no way it needs rings when I'm doin a weelie in 4 gears cause if the rings were bad you'd loose compression n power I'm thinking valve seal or support or the valve head is cracked won't know till tmw evening pics could tell you what's goin on add me on facebook just loaded pics

well tore down the topend looked at the valves looked ok but looked in the cylinder it was full of oil pulled the cylinder off checked rings they're ok cylinder ok the piston is brand new checked the last rings for the oil they were touchin I got them loose opend the gap a lil more cleaned the cylinder head piston put it all together reset the timing made sure the t was lined up re checked everything after I torqued it all down tmw putting moter back on trike fireing it up see if itl smoke which it will for ahwile until it clears in the muffler
