I just got an 85 Tecate (Thanks Fabiodriven for keeping your eyes out for me) and the front forks look horrible. Does anyone know if there are any frorks that will swap from newer anythings????? Or does anyone make repro tubes to replace my rusted ones???
ON a seperate note I bought a new chain slider and carb boot from Jeswineheart... Thank god somebody is still making parts and these things are as good as new :Bounce:Bounce

Check this out TecateDan. This is really helpful, but long. Don't really know about the fork swap personally, but lots of options of fixing your problem. Glad to have another Tecate buddy. Congratulations. -http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?94809-Kxt250-Tecate-3-What-Parts-Fit-Swap-Interchange

If the tubes are functionaly okay you could put fork boots over the tubes like the 84 T-3.
On my build, the tubes between the tripple tree's are the worst. I used slightly larger sized alu tube and cut to length and installed over that area, between the top and bottom tripple tree's.

I was thinking about the fork boots but I'm worried that the pitting is going to mess with the seals if I just cover up the problem...

Those are probably in worse shape then the ones he has. If your tubes are dinged up it will affect your seals. The 84 fork tubes are the same as the 85 fork tubes, so you could look for a good set of those to replace them with as well. As far as newer forks go.. if you find anything out post it here please.
