Hey
I presently have a '85 250SX, it works great, and there's this guy that offered me a yamaha warrior (i dunno the year of it ) for 1500$. so it would cost me near 500$...but DAMN my dad doesn't like the ATV's with a manual transmission, cuz he always goes in mud, so he thinks that with a clutch to pull, it's more difficult to get out of the mud when you're stuck...nevermind... what should i do ??

Of all the three-wheelers I have seen and since I own a SX I think it’s the most versatile and I would buy it all over again if I had to (Thanks ATC Crazy) ;) . I have never road a quad but they would be ok I guess

I don't wanna have 2 trikes/quads. I can have just one. 250SX or Warrior ?

I'd take the SX.....although Warriors are fun for playing around on too...

First things first, don't even consider a quad. You're not cool unless you ride on three wheels 8) And besides that, there are plenty of trikes that will out perform a Warrior anyday, in all conditions

However, if you are interested in a change from a 250sx, the first thing to know is what kind of riding you do? The Warrior is a sport model, not made really for mudding like you seem to do, and I'd think it'd get stuck easier than the sx because of the additional weight and drag in the mud of that fourth wheel. And you can always go with bigger, more aggressive tires on your sx. Not to mention that it's an auto, like dad says. It's a good crossover trike too if you like jumping a bit and hauling through the woods with the plush suspension.

If you don't do any of that fun stuff and just put around and see what kind of mud you can go through, go ahead and do what everyone else says and get a 250es.

Now if you want to go sportier, with more power, get a 350x man. It's got 4 stroke torque for mudding and it'll smoke a warrior all day long on the track.

I hope that's of some assistance. -Aaron

I'd have to disagree with ya there. I've taken my brothers Warrior places that an SX wouldn't dare to go.

The SX is great. You can be aggressive or lazy because it's an auto with no clutch. It's limitations to me are it's suspension - you can improve the front but the rear will never soak up hits. Look at my Avatar - do you think it lands smooth on that size leap?? Only if I catch the downside just right.
Trikes are fun, quads are fun and dirtbikes are fun. If you like to jump and would like a clutch to boost you out of a corner - get the QUAD.

and i have to disagree. i have outrun many warriors on a 250sx and taken them places no warrior would go.

as far as the choice 250sx or warrior. your comparing a sport/utility trike to a "wanna be" sport quad. they are in a differant class.

the warrior is sportier  but the trike is more versitle.

the warrior has chain drive and a manual clutch
the 250SX has shaft drive and a auto clutch.

the warrior is faster and can probably jump a little higher with its slightly better suspension. but the SX has more manuverability and a lighter weight.

the golf cart = to a 250SX is the fourtrax 250EX

Thanks a lot guys, I think you showed me which one is the best between them. I did my choice: keep my SX and maybe change some parts like the rear shock....what shocks would fit in a '85 250SX? (some racing machines's shocks like a banshee, 400EX shock, and so on...) to get more travel

i would say get the warrior its newer it has more power and is faster. they have quite a bit of modds for them and they are reliable

Thats the biggest problem - I went so far as to mount a 200X shock on mine and it stank! The angles and valving etc. are all wrong. Nobody seems to have the time and energy to put a truley great shock mod in a 250SX sport utility vehicle like the SX. Thats why I got a 250R, I can be a maniac or a cruiser depending on the day. I won't say it's impossible to do and I was real close to mounting a Blaster shock on mine - no resevoir or linkage on a Blaster so maybe.......

Need a frame to weld and mess with the mounts?? I got 2. Take your pick 30$ each. MASS
