which side cover to use on a trx300 to a atc250sx swap

almost done with motor just need know which side cover do I use on my atc250sx that I put a trx300 engine on.

ok used the 300 side cover now what is best way to fix wires coming out of 300 to work with 250 harness or should I change whole harness to 300

Try to keep it in one thread. I would have responded to the wall posts but I saw this thread instead.

The first guy who did it in the thread I linked pretty much used the TRX300 parts.
I think the stator wires are different, but I don't know if you can swap stators.

Actually I looked it up, from Jason T. "The electrical problem that I mentioned is that the 300 engine has a different amount of wires coming out of the stator, and that the 300 engine only has 1 wire going to the pulse generator, while the 250 engine has 2"

I'm just going to use the full trx300 wiring harness. There is a start-in-gear-mod for them, but for years 95-2000. Mine is an '88 so I will have to come up with something when I come to it.

ok thanks. I split the case and went together fine. got it all together except the head. will probably use the 300 wiring. going get ready to blast frame and paint. later I plan to change swingarm with trx250 like the other guy did. should make a sweet ride. what do you think about me using the 350x carb. would it be better. I plan on finding a 350x front end also.

350x carb should be a good upgrade, I think a few guys on here have done it but you'll need to rejet.
I've considered a 350x, 300ex, 400ex carb but it mostly depends on which one I can find cheapest.

But yea that 250 TRX rear end mod was pretty cool. My SX has 25" skinny mudding tires but the fenders hit them when I go over bumps or off small jumps.

And my 250SX (stock engine) will probably get a 350x front end, my forks are all pitted and bent on the SX, and I'd like the disk brake.

sounds good I already had the 350x carb. getting ready to sandblast the frame. wonder what head would be best. don't know if the 250 will fit or not. thought about porting the 300head out. I got 2 of the 300heads but one of them been shaved and it don't look too true
