poor little 70

ok got my little 70 to run but cuts out at high rpm. when I try to ride it it cats like it won't pull me. I tried to move needle up and down with no diff. still tries back fire through carb. could motor be week. been sitting for about 2 years

Sounds like a tight intake valve.

if it has had a lack of maintanence i would say its time to put a set of points in it, set the valves check and recheck the timing,, clean the tank and aircleaner.. probably do a compression check first,,, that will tell you wether to go to the next step.

k thanks a lot. will try that. this little dude driving me crazy. trying get it running enough to start doing some suspension mods then bigger motor.

I also put the exuast off one those Chinese quads cause factory one was gutted out

ok that explains some of it too,,, details left out.. if you changed the pipe you will have to jet it for the pipe... your probably running LEAN too ....

k I will try that but only put pipe on after it wouldn't run right. I am about ready to buy one those motors that come almost ready to go. will try old pipe and see what that does .

well just found out someone welded the flywheel on so that is probably it.

That could be a BIG issue! Just scrap that motor and start new. Put an add in the Classifieds and I am sure you will get some luck. There are several guys on here parting 70s as we speak.
