View Full Version : 200x ticking time bomb?

hey everyone just recently Ive noticed that i have a ticking sound in my top end on my 200x, now i do have a couple ideas, 1. valves 2. timing? but i would like some other ideas or if anyone else has had this problem and feedback is welcome. thank you for your time.

It's probably the valves. I'd check them anyway, and make sure to do an oil change.

I loved that dues mustache. I suppose if i wanna truely be a trike-king I need to have a mustache. I think that's what i'll do today.

Honestly, many times it isn't the valves......
It's oil not getting to the top end, esp. if someone just rebuilt it. Or it's the timing chain and guides that you can get at dennis kirk.
Does it start up fine when it's hot?

yeah fires up 2 kicks when hot runs perfect, i just got this stupid noise, and i have it before in other machines

My 200x fires up in 1-2 kicks on warmer days. If it's cold out, I turn the choke on and sometimes it takes up to 5 kicks.

exactly, its cold here now in canada, so it takes a bit to start up, but once its running it runs like a top

Why would oil not be getting to the top end if the engine was just rebuilt? Or in other words what is a common mistake while rebuilding that prevents oil from getting up there? Is there a way to check it?
