I got a new carb for my Z today but not the cable hookup. It's a Keihin flat slide PWK. What is the best throttle cable to get for it for the z with the least trouble? Just stop my the dealership? This is a pic of the cap. I have a round slide Keihin PE on it now but not sure if the cable will interchange with it. Both are the same size.
Thanks

What machine did the carb come from, and what size is the carb?
What thumb throttle do you have?

It's a 38mm. I have a twist on it now but I have 2 or 3 thumb throttles also.

If you use a 86 Z thumb throttle, then a 83-84 ATC 250R cable should work.

That is according to my memory and what others have used in the past.

You may want to wait for a second opinion also in case I am wrong.

Got the cable to work from the keihin 38 round slide with twist throttle for now but the intake boot that fit the 38 keihin PE is too small for the 38 PWK. I need a bigger intake boot so I don't have to stretch this one so much. What bike has one that fits the PWK 38 and the Z? Anyone running this one your Z. Just wondering about the pilot and main sizes. This one had the wrench report work done.
Thanks

You have 2 options on the intake.
The stock one can be removed and boiled for about 2 minutes in water mixed with Murphy's oil soap.
Then use oven gloves and stretch the hot intake over the carb, off the bike and let it cool down. Then bolt the intake and carb to the jug.
I dont run the stock air filter system, so you may have to heat that back boot as well to fit the carb on the filter side.

Or contact Sprock racing and/or ATC eric, and get a custom billet intake..They fit the big carbs awesome..I also suggest a set of V force 3 reeds too..They sell the whole kit.
It eliminates the boost bottle.

Jetting you can start rich at a 50 pilot and 182-190 main..
You may end up at 48 and 175-180 in the end..That is just baselines..

Motion Pro makes custom cables for about $15-20. give them a call, tell them what throttle, carb, and the length you want & they will send it to you.

What about losing the boost bottle. will it effect performance not being on it?
