View Full Version : How can I tell if a 1985 250r has a 300 or 310 kit?

So I picked an 85 yesterday and the guy told me the previous owner installed a 300 kit. I have never dealt with any of the big bore kits before. All I can tell you is the bike is wicked fast and makes a different kind of sound. Any knowledge would be appreciated.

Take the head off and use a dial bore gauge or a harbor freight caliper to give or take the bore dia. Did he give you a shee loada parts??

the only way for sure is pull the head and measure it, 72 mm is 295cc ..

I stole it for $550. I tell ya whaT THOUGH THIS THING RIPS. I don't think I'll be able to keep it though. Look forward to some riding with ya. What does HP mean stamped into the side of the head?

That HP logo is from Jerry Hall at Halls precision in glendale, az. His engine work is considered some of the best in the industry. Nice grab

Thanx for the info on the cylinder head. Kasey I buy them and then figure out what to do with them....I don't buy specifically to part out, but sometimes if I feel there too far gone then yes. Although I was cursed out on the phone this morning by a guy I recently bought a couple from for listing them up for sale, wasn't pleasant.

I don't know he got all pissed cuz I listed them up for more. He said I ripped him off...he wanted me to sell them back to him and I said a deal is a deal.

i know a CT310 stroker is 73mm bore, i doubt that helps tho lol
