Hey guys, the suspension on my recentlly aquired R is a real ass drager, I've seen pics of guys that have them low for flat tracking and that's about how this one is set up, how can I get the ass back up into the air. The rear shock is good so I'm assuming its a mounting issue? Please help, got a long ride planned for tomorrow and don't wanna ride it this way!

Try tightening up the adjustment on it.

The shock is fine, its set up for a bigger guy like me, and the rebound and everything is fine. Seems like I'm missing something here

The rear shock is good so I'm assuming its a mounting issue? The most common way to lower the rear suspension is to install an adjustable link. Does it have an adjustable link that goes from the swingarm mount to the bottom of the shock? If so, you can adjust it back to the stock ride height.

It sounds like it's dead and in need of a rebuild..........

Does it push down and return somewhat slowly or is it a pogo stick?

Pics??

You have an 85 and have been looking at 86 models. There is a big difference in the heighth.

How big is the difference? 1"? I didn't know the 250R changed linkages or shocks in 86 or made a taller seat.......

I have had two 85's and both sat obviously lower than the 86 I have now. I know about the seat difference but it looked like more than the seat that was effecting the height. I never questioned a problem as they all rode fine. Maybe there were shock problems or just adjusted different. I just assumed it was one of the small differences in the years. I am not doubting Kaseys knowledge of these machines, if you say they are the same then I would bank on it, but there was a huge difference in the looks of my machines. Because of this, I always thought the 85s were squatty looking and the 86s sat up higher.:wondering
