Hello, My name is Matt, I'm new to the site today.
I bought an ALT-50 D about a month ago for my son who is turning 3 next week and this trike is driving me nuts. When I brought it home it would start first pull and idle great. As soon as I give it gas it just blah nothing no power. So I took carb apart and cleaned EVERYTHING, also noticed that the float was broken. So after hours of looking at schematics to find one because its the only carb part not available, I got one for a 85' 50 4-wheeler. So the problem, float in.. new air box and filter. and still starts and idles great but blah no power.. Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site.

Did you drain the gas and put fresh gas in? Clean the fuel filter (if it has one). A fresh spark plug and other normal maintenance items never hurt too.

I'm not familiar with the ALT, but my Tri-Zinger has a RUN/START/OFF switch. It has to be in the "start" position to start but it will not rev up in the "start" position. Once it is running, you have to switch it to "run" before the engine will go past idle. Does the ALT have a switch like that?

Prime setting dumps gas right into the intake tube . after it starts you put it on the on setting. From what I was told from the guy I got it from.

I'm referring to the ignition, not fuel.

Could be weak spark, get a spark tool and make sure it is a good strong spark

Make sure the carb is tuned right too, sounds like you're flooding it.

Check in the "world class help" section check out the jetting 101 section. You most likely have the right size jets but the needle could be off. Remember where you started so you can always get back to square one. Moving the needle is free. After that you may want to investigate into the ignition. I'm not familiar with it on a alt 50 is it points or cdi? Get the manual (if you don't have it) and trouble shoot from there. Good luck and welcome to the boards!!!
