Hey everyone. I have a ATC 70 that I have had to replace the tires on. So I got the old ones off and the new ones together. Problem is I cant seem to get them to stay seated on the beads. They hold air long enough for a ride, then while it sits over nite they pop off the bead.
I know I have split rims and I actually used rtv sealant when putting them back together to make sure I didnt have air leaking out that way.. Im positive its just the tires. Any ideas to keep these darn things seated on the bead???

I run my spit rims with tube in them just to be on the safe side.

I might have to run a tube, not that, that is a bad thing.. I just wonder where I would find a tube for a tire that size

the stock 70 wheels do not have a bead seat,, if you look at stock tires they have a 1 inch wide bead all other tires are designed for bead seat wheels ,, so if the beads on the new tires aren't perfect you might not get them to hold without a tube.

Most tires have a maximum seating pressure printed on the side of the tire. For example Seating Pressure 15 psi, recommended pressure 3 psi. On karts, they use a band to force the beads to seat, here it is called a Mounting Ring:
Kart Tire Bead Breaker and Mounting Ring (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Racing-Go-Kart-Tire-Bead-Breaker-and-Mounting-Ring-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem45f15272ccQQitemZ30040 1455820QQptZGoQ5fKarts)
It looks like you could make one out of some scrap sheet metal and a tie-down strap.
Some like to use fire to mount tubeless tires. Probably best to do it outside of the garage, away from the combustibles seen in this video:

It could be that the rim is too small for the tire and you are forced to use tubes.
Tubes can be a problem on rear tires because at the low pressures that we run, the tube slips in the tire and pulls the valve stem out of the valve stem hole.

easiest way i know to seat the bead on a tire with out fire is to take a ratchet strap, wrap it around the tire and tighten it up to press the bead against the rim. them add some air, loosen the strap and add more air. easiest and fastest way to do it. ive done it on go kart tires all the way up to 35 inch swampers for my truck.

I like the ratchet strap idea, never thought of that. I've got tubes in my 200s, cause the rims are all rusted and won't hold a bead. This weekend I had to replace one tube, and I had to inflate to about 20 psi to get the bead to seat, even with some soap around the bead. When the thing finally did seat, BANG!, dish soap shot into my eye. Nice. With that much trouble doing it the "safe" way, I think I'll avoid using fire and flammable gas!

If you guys were paying attention you would have noticed that he isn't having a problem initially seating the bead. He is getting it seated, but they lose air and pop off over night.

Once a bead is truly seated it is rare for it to break bead even if they lose all their air. The bead is never getting initially seated fully, IMO.

if its losing air and popping off the bead, one, the bead isnt clean. or two, its not beading properly. third, could also be a small leak in the tire its self. dump some slime in her and shake it around the bead. that will take care of the problem. some wont use slime, some will, i trust it, only thing is when a tire does blow up, it looks like a predator movie.

Hahah Sounds about like the set of Blemish Fast Trekkers I bought for cheap. I fought and fought with them. Lots of soap a ratchet strap and 40 psi to seat the bead. She went Bang and all was good. I was ready to go get a clip on chuck, put the tire and hose outside and giver the tire the pressure it needed to either blow up or seat on the bead. Some times they are just tough to get to pop.
