Was a little doubtful of the helicoiL process as this was my first encounter with a stripped plug hole?? I am a beleiver now, worked great!:lock: 15 minutes tops and better than before. Been over a year since this one was beat around http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/th_P6260070.jpg (http://s388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/?action=view&current=P6260070.jpg) K530 kenda's spread 3 inches wider and ready to dig with my snorkel:lol: http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/th_P6260071.jpg (http://s388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/?action=view&current=P6260071.jpg) Though that I would offer my 10mm x 1.0 thread pitch helicoil kit to use if anyone wanted to pay the shipping back and forth as it was quite expensive at 55.00 and not real easy to find?? Hope to never hav to use it at all but if someone needs it, pm me. http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/th_P6260069.jpg (http://s388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/?action=view&current=P6260069.jpg) Hey Mosh.....got any mud at those 70 Nationals comin' up?? lol

Did you use a drill press for that, or did you freehand it? I'm also skeerd of the whole process.

We use them a lot out on the rig. Watch out for over tighting. Over time it cam mess up the thread insert if it is overtightened all the time. We had a couple of guys who are famous for over tighting on the rig.

Did you use a drill press for that, or did you freehand it? I'm also skeerd of whole process. Freehand and no drill. The tap was all I needed in soft aluminum. Just lots of grease and turned 1/4 turn slowly in and out. Cleaned tap a few times as well during process and regreased.
