Got some bad news today. My 86 t-3 build needs allot of motor work. Cylinder needs plating, need piston, and bearing at crank shaft/connecting rod needs replaced. Will somebody please pipe in and send me to a good place to get a quote for a sleeve, piston, and crank rebuild kit. Thanx Bill

p.s im comparing the price for the sleeve vs plating. I know the plating is better but this is 500$ I didnt expect to spend.

just had a 05 yz250 sleeved. cost me $300 plus shipping, for a new sleeve, piston and install. got it back ready to bolt on.

the rod should cost about $50 to install, new rod is somewhere around $100

main bearings and seals are about $60

I don't know where you are in the southeast, but there's a place in Auburn, Al that does the nikasil plating. Langcourt is the company, I think it's about $180+ shipping if your cylinder requires only plating. I went through all this in the summer (plating vs. sleeving) before I found a new cylinder. Also check with Dave Roberts at ILR ilrperformance.com , At the time He had some cylinders that were already sleeved that he said he would give me a good deal on, but I found a cylinder before I ever got a price. Your probably aware of this but all those parts are the same for an 86 model KX 250. Sometimes a search for kx250 will show more parts. Hope this helps. Do a search here and at kawieriders.com for plating vs. sleeving for some good info. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I only need plating. Thats a good price and Im sure by the time you buy a sleeve, and then have it instaled id be over that so I will definatly check. Ive found all the parts and yes there are allot more when you look for kx stuff. Thanx again.

Check out cycleworksracing.net they offer cylinder plating at a very resonable price. Off Road Innovations also offers replating and sleeving but I don't know what they charge.

I have used US CHROME 4 times with great results, even sent them a jug I thought was never going to be good, they fixed it! Very good communication, prices are reasonable as well.
