Hey everyone,

I'm doing some major frame modifications to my 84 200S and was wondering what Rod to use? I have had good luck with 6010 and 6011 DC on other projects. I just want to make sure it will work with the metal in the frame.

I've used 6011 on AC welding but there are far better rods to use; DC welds better too.....

Honestly, good luck with a stick welder, I use mine on my backhoe. The Honda tubing is so thin and sometimes rusted that it burns thru.....

Personally, I'd go to my local Gas shop like Airco and ask them what rod to use for that type and size steel with DC.

I'd get a wire feed......I don't know how much welding experience you have but for a noob like me a wire is much more forgiving than stick..

Stick welding has some of the best penetration, not the cleanest welds..but the strongest..but umm what rod..trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro I haven't sticked in years..I just mig, and if it's stainless..I tig.

Not saying to stick weld your frame........but when stick welding, I generally use a 3/32 6013 or 1/8 7018. Lots of combinations out there to choose from, and as previously stated, DC welds better and smoother. Good luck.....

I'd try 3/32- 6010 if its oxidized and rusty. if it's clean you can use 7018...Good luck Beets

I cannot reccomend stick welding the thin tubing that frames are made out of unless you are a complete expert at it...

Im 16 and picked up an arc welder when i was 13. I've gotten really good at it, I've done a couple three wheeler frames and always use 7014's or 7018's.

Metal needs to be real clean for both, both leave a nice smooth bead.

If your just starting, the 7014's I find are a bit easier to use.
