Okay guys heres the story. i got a free trike awhile back a 185s and i had to buy a few parts for it including a new carb. well i got the carb like a day ago and i just decided to go put it on. well the old one was leaking out of the bottom tube and the jets were clogged. so i decided to get a new carb and when i put it on today, i turned the gas on and it was leaking out of the bottom hole again. so i feel really stupid right now cause i know im doing something wrong. i dont even know if it runs or not and i bought about 150$ worth of parts. im about ready to just sell it for parts, put my money together and buy a 250r (always wanted one). anyways any help would be appreciated. thanks

Pull the carb apart and give it a good cleaning. Sounds like the float needle isn't fully seating. Make sure it's clean and doesn't have any imperfections. It could also be the float level is out of spec. I uaually bench test a carb and check the float level before I put one on.

The very bottom or the carb?
On the bottom of the float bowl is the drain, perhaps the screw is not in all the way, is missing, or has a bad seal.

Is this a new, never used carb or a new-to-you carb?

could even be dirt in the fuel keeping the needle from seating. had that happen on the 82 sp250 im putting together. make sure the tank is cleaned out. clean out the bowl really well... pull out the needle valve and clean that back out. perhaps pick up a small inline filter.
i just got done rebuilding my '82 185s and had it out in the mud this past weekend. it was a blast, so don't give up on it yet... if you do though let me know i'll pick it up from ya :)

Did you try tightening the bottom screw ALL the way in? The one on the very bottom of the carb. I made that mistake when I rebuilt my first carb. COuldn't figure out why it was leaking. I thought that the bottom screw was a mixture screw and backed it out like 1 1/2 turns. Whoops.

is it one of those cheap chinese carbs? because they do that.
you ditched your original carb because it was dirty and leaked...well try this http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=atc185s+carb+kit&_sacat=See-All-Categories
normally your original carb is the way to go.
