OK, I'm wondering if someone can help me out. I'm looking for some correct style replacement tires for my 1984 250R. I know visually, the 83-85 200X and 85-86 250SX tires looked similar, so I'd take those as well.

1) What is the original model of the '84 250R tire? I don't have the original rear tires anymore.

2) Has anyone ordered OEM replacement tires for their 200X or 250SX? If so, can anyone tell me what the following tires look like?

42750-HA6-681 (AT)
42750-VM6-681

The reason I ask is I ordered the replacement tires for my R (42750-958-671) only to find out upon receiving them that they are tires for a 84-86 200S. Not what I want at all.

I appreciate it.

I'm not as familiar with the '83-'84 R's, but I believe the OEM tires were Dunlop, not Ohtsu. 22" diameter if my memory serves. From memory, the 200X tires were the same models, but I wouldn't stake my reputation on that. It will be extremely difficult to find these tires now. Your best bet would be a set of Ohtsu tires for the 350X. You can find the part numbers from the microfiche images on www.servicehonda.com . Once you find the part, don't trust the status of availability posted. Call Service Honda and get the representative to check actual in-stock status. Hope this helps.

I'm certain the '83 R's had Dunlop, as my old R still had its original tires. Not 100% sure on the '84, although I can check my front tire when I get home.

Yeah, I've ordered from Service Honda & Chaparral who also has their OEM section of their site. The biggest issue, is, the 200X and 250SX tires also have superceded part numbers, so without an actual image or 'testimonial' from someone who has ordered the new replacements I've listed above, I have no idea what Honda is schlupping off as original replacements.

If the replacement tires for the 200X are similar or near identical to its original tires, then why the heck is Honda using 200S tires as replacements for a 250R? Anyways, that's what I'm asking. Maybe I'll give Service Honda a call and ask if they know what they look like. Problem is, most people I end up speaking to have no idea what the original tires looked like and hence can't help me.
