can someone tell me why my kick starter occasionaly kicks back " violently " ?

missing decompressor cable?...assuming its your 200x

my SX does it also, I solve the problem by repairing my E-start

ya 86 200X decompressor cable is there, and i measured the free play to spec in the service manual and its good there.

I think it's just the nature of an engine that has high compression. My old 1984 cr500 used to kill me. I've grown used to it over the years(although it always hurts)lol.

normal on occasion,thats why moto boots go up your shin.my 350x used to kill me and the 200x gets me sometimes when im not paying attention or wearing sneakers

cool thanks guys and yeah its only an occasional shinner, so just to be clear its a good thing then, i mean high compression, not the lumpy shin

could be timing as well. I had the points misadjusted on my Yamaha 500 and it threw me off. I have gotten the violent kick on my and newrider's 250Rs but thats totally different. Hurts bad.

Recoil starters are notirious for jerking back, but high compression is your answer.
