i am confused about this as well.. atc704life and i took a look at the bike this afternoon , and when he told me it didn't have any spark i figured it just needed a point adjustment .. so when we started messing with it we adjusted the points to .014 and the mag ,points and condensor looked new, and as stated above we had power on a test light coming off the stator all the way to the coil but not through it .. so we took a known working coil off one of his other 70's still no better .. i understand that a test light will work on the stator side of coil but not on spark plug side due to higher voltage coming out of coil correct?? and thats exactly what we had.. but after trying numerous new and known working plugs still nothing .. i could only geuss that the points/condensor wern't making enough juice to push through the coil .. does that sound rite ?? any input here would be great !!!!

Did you try clipping plug wire end and reattatching plug cap and likewise on coil end? May work? I would get new points, not cleaned up and clean magneto good inside and go from there. Coil should be tested with resistance ....ohm meter. Good luck

well we did not try that but as stated we used a known good coil .. also points and magneto are new ..???? also how many ohms should u be reading off the coil ??

When you had the fly wheel off , did you clean the cam on the inside, the surface that the points work against ? The points may look right when set, but not be right when the fly wheel is spinning. It may not need much, just a rub, over here in the UK the weather is crap and a little surface rust can put the gap out, or it may just have a build up of grime .
