I have an 85 200X that I just got working again after 10 years sitting. I ran it for 30 minutes then died, No spark. I have multi-tested all electrical and the CDI is suspected as bad. I checked it using a 200s big red manual as the 200x manual shows the square connectors not the round one.

Can someone verify if this is the correct way to verify the CDI is not working?

This manual shows the 2 square connectors, the one I have is the single round one.

I find the analog testers to give better results than the digital ones do when dealing with OHMMS..........

Yep me to on the analog testors LOL .
I would double check the stator before buying a new CDI . The stators are the weak link in the 200x electric system .

1985 had a round connector just to let you know the manual shows 83 84

Ok, I attempted to change out the stator and RM sent me the wrong one. But I found out the problem. Seems like the flywheel was looooose. NOt sure how that happens, but I tightened and put bike back to together. Runs great.

Has anyone encountered this kind of issue with a flywheel coming loose?

I have three 1984 200x's and they all have a CDI with a round connector and a big number 965 on them.

That picture in the manual is wrong. It looks like a picture of an 86 CDI.

I have never heard of a flywheel coming loose, but if they give you your money back on the stator, that sounds like a pretty good outcome.

Just an update, RMStator is sending the correct part. I am going to update the stator when I receive it, since I have already paid for it.

Here a pic just after I did the CR85 caliper swap mod this summer.

The 83's have the 2 square plug CDI. I'm not sure if they all do but I had an 83 parts bike that did. Not compatible with the round plug harness found on 84-85

Received correct stator from RMSTATOR and installed it. A couple of kicks and the bike runs great. Going to ride it for a while and see what else needs fixing.
