I'm getting ready to start on an 84 200ES that has no spark. Just curious about the measurements I should be looking for. What resistance should I see across the pickup coil and coils in the alternator? I have a wiring diagram and I know some about electronics but I don't know what I should be looking for. What about the coil? Low, like .3-.8 ohms across the primary and maybe 2500 or so across the secondary? What kind of voltage outputs should I see across the pickup and alternator coils as I crank the engine over? Any other "secrets" I should look for in the ignition system? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What about the pulse generator? Anyone know what that should measure as far as resistance goes? I can't find it in the manual. It measures 30 ohms. What type of voltage or pulse should I see across the leads? The coil and alternator check good. Good voltage at the alternator when I pull the rope. All switches are functioning properly.

Never mind. Turns out the spark advancer is toast. Thanks again for the link to the manual. Saved it to disc.

How did you determine that the spark advancer is toast?
