I have a 85 yamaha 200e shaft ytm. There is a 225 shaft drive motor on ebay. can this be interchanged with the 200e model? RJThoma2@scj.com

Thanks.....

I don't think it's a direct bolt up change, because the swingarms/driveshafts are different due to suspension/non suspension. If You want to have the YTM200 become a 225, buy that engine, take the head, cyl, and piston and put it on the 200 engine. that's a direct bolt up.

If I remember correctly, the knuckle for the swingarm is after the engine. In order to take the 200e engine out you will need to remove the cover that goes over the gear that comes out of the transmition. You will have to use your cover from the 200e and the internals but as far as the engine goes, it should just bolt in. What does someone else think?

they are direct bolt up, but you will have to swap the drive spindels out.
