how do i know when to adjust valves? i got my 86 200x project runnin. been taking it around the block a few times. is there a certain sound or response from engine that should tell me or a loss of power? jus wondering when yall adjust. if so, how hard is it to do on a 86 200x? thanks

a loud ticking coming from the top end of the machine is a sign that the valves are loose. i would check/adjust the valves every 10-20 hours on the engine (thats being on the safe side). get a manual from the "world class help" section of the site (or else where) and it will take you threw the process step by step. you will need a feeler gauge and other basic tools. once you do it a few times it wont take more than 15-30 mins and will become a basic maintenance procedure like changing the oil/filter and other things.

you dont need anything on the 82 200x except a 10mm socket..remove the cover on the topp left side of motor that says honda...put the motor at TDC with the T showing in the timing window. then you loosen the 10mm bolts a turn or two..rotate the adjuster till they stop then back off by 1 notch and tighten
