Well fellas came upon this 1985 250sx the other day. My dad had mentioned to me that his friend had some 3 wheelers he was wanting to get rid of. 1 of course was the 85 250sx and the other i wasnt 100% sure but im thinking maybe either the Tri-moto 200 or 225. I just know that it is shaft drive and blue. lol. It was kinda in the weeds but all there and not in too bad of shape. As soon as i seen the 250sx i wanted it. So he was like ill take 600 for the trike "OR" your dad has this pistol i want that ill take in trade. Got me to thinking, hmmmmmmmmmmmm. My dads pistol is a Highpoint .45 and if you know anything about pistols, these arent worth but maybe 300 new. lol. So i had a little chit chat with paps tonight and made a deal ill give him 300 for the gun and ill trade the gun for the trike, so i went and made the deal. So here i am with a 85 250sx, let me know what you all think.

Get rid of those HUGE back tires, a new battery (get the right one) and make sure the diff is full and clean or look at the rubber boot for damage.

Ya can't beat 300$ !!

Thanks guys! Karb, it kicks over well, starter i think is going out, front light works good. nuetral light works, battery is dead. It does roll good with no noises. Dropped a lil fuel in her and it hasnt started yet. But ill have more tim ein the next few days with the ol' bat. Dirtcrasher, lol. great minds think alike. For sure smaller tires. When you say "the right battery" a lil more specific please, this if my first electric trike so not sure which one to get. Ill make sure to check everything else, as you can see in the pics it was dark so ill get to looking tomorrow. Any info you guys could give me on this like where to get some parts, what to check etc would be great. Thanks fellas

Yeah i know of a place where i could have gotten a high point for like 175 or something but buying my dads got me the trike tonight, not tomorrow. lol. Im impatient, lol. My dad gave 300 for his but it has case, 3 clips, and a full box of ammo. So its not a too bad of a deal.

agree with d crash

make sure there's at least 3.3 oz of hypoid 80 wt in the differential.
that's not much more or less than 1/2 a coffee cup so do it for sure.

They say the rear end is maintain free so they never get checked.

engine oil filters can also be put in backwards or wrong which is an almost instant head / rocker killer.

some 85 models had cold start issues so if you get near the carb, at least make sure the
"choke" circuit enrichment piston moves freely.

Those are the only oddities I can think of offhand.

all other topics are the same as the other models..change oils, valve adjust etc etc

Nice grab on that SX, must be something valuable about those right brake levers though, the 85 I got a few weeks back was missing too, The 200x fork swap I'm planning will fix that for me when I get some more funds together.

You can buy different batteries for the SX, one has more cranking amps and costs 20$ more - about 55$ for one.

Everyone has opinions from Walmart to AutoZone as to where too buy.....
