i got my 87 200x motor apart to do rings. i have the whole top end off and the piston is just sittin there.

i took off the right side cover to retrieve a head stud nut i dropped.

now im trying to use the kicker by hand to turn the crank shaft and its really tough. is that ok or did i put the thing on wrong? should it rotate freely that there is no head on it at all? i, of course, didnt check prior to removing the cover.
is the kicker just difficult to use anyways?

i can rotate it with the chain hanging out, but i dont want to force the kicker around you know?

also dont want to get it all put together and not be able to start the sumbuck.
thanks in advance yall.

Is your timing chain bunching on the bottom sprocket?

Nopei hung it with a bungee cord.
Figgered out though, flipped the little lever right next to the kicker once and it went freely after that every time.
